Life Coaching

Murphy Toerner is a BCC, a Board Certified Coach.  She is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and a member of the Austin (TX) Chapter of International Coaching Federation.  She offers life coaching as a resource to “Equip People for Successful Living.”    With over 20 years of experience as a Christian counselor, since 1992, Murphy is the ideal coach to help you move from where you are now to where you want to be.

Is Life Coaching for you?

As a coach, Murphy’s role is to encourage you to achieve your goals.  This is accomplished through a process.  As a focused listener, Murphy is able to be your thought partner.  She will enable you to determine “where you are” in life and “where you want to be” in the near and distant future.  She can help you sort through the visible obstacles and invisible obstacles, which impede your forward progress.

In a “coaching/client” relationship, the client and coach work together to determine the client’s personal, relational, and/or professional goals.  Together the coach and client look for opportunities, which will enable the client to reach those goals.  They also work together to examine what possible obstacles stand in the way of the client’s achievement of their goals.  And finally, the coach helps the client focus on specific action steps, i.e. things they can “DO” to move toward success.  This method of coaching is the G.O.O.D method developed by Dr. Jeffery Auerback, PhD, Master Certified Coach.

If you want a focused listener, an insightful thought-partner and a powerful encourager to help you work on and achieve your personal goals, then life coaching is for you.

What is Life Coaching and How is it Different than Counseling?

Life coaching is different from counseling.  We all encounter times in our lives where we need healing from something in the past.  Counseling is for those times.  Whether we have to deal with past or current trauma, mental illness, or the variety of emotional hurts we face in the world, counseling is our guide and partner to healing.

Coaching is about living life to it’s fullest.  Coaching enables you to devise and achieve your goals and dreams.  Coaching is for people who want to enhance relationships, grow personally, achieve goals that may previously have felt unachievable.  A coach is your partner and guide.  A coach helps you see where you want to go and helps you get there.

How does coaching help you achieve your goals?

By helping you to gain clarity about who you are and what you want to achieve.

By helping you understand what your core values and deepest passions are.

By assisting you in developing a plan to work on positive change in your life.

By equipping you to make the changes that will move you towards your goals.

And most importantly, to encourage you through accountability and celebration as you move through important milestones.
