Press In or Drift Away

by myvaadmin on October 19, 2016

As a middle-schooler, 7th grade actually, I had the privilege to attend an all girls camp in the hill county of central Texas.  My grandparents graciously paid for my sister and I to experience Camp Mystic for half the summer ( a 6 week term).

This camp was amazing!  The activities included:

  • Golf
  • Swimming
  • Music
  • Archery
  • Marksmanship – .22 rifles
  • Arts / Crafts
  • Hiking
  • Canoeing
  • And much more

I really loved canoeing in the Guadalupe River.  God used it to teach me a memorable spiritual lesson.  When the river had a strong current, I had to”press into it” by paddling hard and continuously.  If I stopped paddling or slowed down, the canoe started drifting in the opposite direction.

A few years ago, God pointed out to me that when I’m walking closely with Him, it’s because I was “pressing into Him” by spending time with Him (reading His word) and talking to Him (praying) throughout the day.

When I get too busy or just complacent, in time I realized that I have “drifted away” from God.  It is obvious when I’m not close to the Father (just ask those that are closest to me!!!!)

Right now, are you pressing into God or are you drifting away?  Ask the Lord to show you where you actually are in your relationship with Him.  I am purposing today to press in a little more than I did yesterday.  Will you join me? I hope you will.  Bless you!!!!

Road to Destruction

by myvaadmin on October 19, 2016

Hosea 4:6 — “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Because you have rejected knowledge,

I also will reject you from being My priest.

Since you have forgotten the law of your God,

I also will forget your children. (NASB)

It is a powerful and ominous statement that God pronounces over Israel in Hosea 4:6:  God says Israel will be destroyed because they lack a very specific type of knowledge.  What knowledge might God be talking about?

  • Knowledge of God’s existence
  • Knowledge of sin and its consequences
  • Knowledge of God’s character as represented by the Law
  • Knowledge of Satan and his schemes
  • Knowledge of the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light

Are there areas in your life where you lack Biblical knowledge?

What are you willing to do to address this lack of knowledge?

Praying for you.

Anger, Jealousy, Sadness, Self-Rejection …

When we are children, and we have a problem with someone, we get angry. For whatever reason, that anger pushes the problem away; we get the result we want. It happens a second time — we react with anger — and now we know if we get angry we push the problem away. Then we […]

What are tears? Tears are produced by tear glands, which are small glands inside your upper eyelid. Tears keep the surface of your eyeball clean and moist, and help protect your eye from damage. When you blink, your eyelids spread the tears over the surface of the eye. Sometimes tears flow over your lower eyelid, […]
